A new jukebox musical, set in the mid-eighties among the clubs
of the Sunset Strip, will premiere in January 2006 at the Vanguard
in Hollywood.
Variety reports that Prospect Pictures will present Rock of Ages
Jan. 26-Feb. 18, 2006 in Hollywood with a transfer to a Las Vegas
venue possible. Produced by Hillary Weaver and Janet Billig Rich,
the production will feature direction by Bare's Kristin Hanggi.
The Rock of Ages company will feature Laura Bell Bundy as well as
the Dan Band's Dan Finnerty and Tenacious D.'s Kyle Glass. Among the
songs that will be heard in the new production are "Sister
Christian," "I Hate Myself for Loving You," "Here I Go Again" and
"High Enough."
Laura Bell Bundy created the role of Amber von Tussle in the
Broadway cast of the Tony-winning musical Hairspray. Also a standby
for Kristin Chenoweth's Glinda in Wicked, Bundy received Outer
Critics Circle and Drama Desk nominations for her performance as
Tina Denmark in Off Broadway's Ruthless. Her other theatrical
